Cal Lutheran Athletics named Tim Settem as Head Coach of both the men's and women's water polo programs in March 2024. This came two months after his announcement as the Interim Head Coach for both programs. "We are extremely pleased with Coach Settem's performance over the last few months and are excited about the future of Cal Lutheran water polo," said Director of Athletics Howard Davis. "Our men and women student-athletes expressed great support of him and his hiring. I will never forget the reaction of the student-athletes when I informed them. Their authentic glee for him was profoundly touching and indicative of what he has built in the programs in a short time." Settem comes to Cal Lutheran with a wealth of water polo knowledge. He has coached at Pepperdine, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, UC Santa Barbara, and Ventura College. Teams have excelled with Settem at the helm, and he helped coach players to All-America status and teams to league championships.
